Senior batsman Upul Tharanga will lead the Sri Lanka in five matches ODI series against South Africa, in the absence of regular captain Angelo Mathews, Who sustained a hamstring injury during the second twenty-20 match. First match of the one day series will be at port Elizabeth on 28th January.
Tharanga, 31, has had a recent success as a captain, when he marshalled his team to a tri nation series win in Zimbabwe, also featuring West Indies. Selectors has also picked spin all-rounder Chaturanga Desilva, to replace Nuwan Pradeep, who also returned home, alongwith Mathews and opener Danushka Gunathilika.
