A dashing right-handed opening batsman, opatha started his cricket, when he was just a nine year old kid. ” I played for the Isipathana college for few seasons, then moved on to S. Thomas” he told.

He was a integral part of the under 19 team, and now playing domestic cricket for SSC, most prestigious club in Sri Lanka. In October last year, he represented MAS UNICHELA in 24th Singer MCA knockout tournament, and played some sparkling knocks, alongwith his opening partner Danushka Gunathilika.
