Sri Lanka captain Angelo Matthews will not be considered for two match test series against Bangladesh next month, Sri Lanka cricket board confirmed today. Mathews last played second t20 match against South Africa, where he got injured.
In his absence, Dinesh Chandimal was the captain for the following ODI series. Later, selectors dropped chandimal as well, due to poor form and appointed Upul Tharanga for the three t20 series against Australia, which they won 2-1.
In the absence of Mathews, Rangana Hearth is expected to lead the team against Bangladesh. The first test will start on 7th march, at galle.
The National Selections Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket is set to meet on Tuesday (28) to decide on a formidable team that would play the two test matches against the Bangladesh.
Angelo Mathews, though, is likely be available to play the One-day International and T20 matches thereafter.
