Prestigious DS Senanayake College is popularly known for producing two World Cup winner players, who were also amongst all time Sri Lankan greats : Arvinda De’silva and Hashan Tillakratne. In recent years, another young prodigy Binura Fernando, a tall left-arm seamer, made the college proud, as he made his debut in a t20 match against Pakistan in 2015.
And now, another young talent of the college Sachin Bandara is making headlines, in school circuit. Bandara, a Left arm outherdox spinner, Was the bowler of the tournament in recently concluded MCA ‘C’ division league tournament 2017, as he grabbed 15 wickets in just four matches.
Originally from Matale, his first school was Sirimavo Bandaranayke. He gives the credit of his success so far to his coach Jagath Wasantha. A admirer of Virat Kohli and Rangana Herath, His strength lies in his variations.
