Presently, he is the world’s number one test batsman and has already been regarded best test batsman in the modern era. And now, yesterday Australian captain Steve Smith has added yet another feather on his already illustrious career, as he became the third fastest to score 5000 runs in the test history.
It was only his 57th test and now he is only behind the likes of Sir Don Bradman (36 Tests) and Sunil Gavaskar (52 Tests) in this elite list. Also he became just the 11th player to score 5000 Test runs within 100 innings, a feat which even the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting failed to achieve.
