After the shameful thrashing in test series, the man who prepared pitches for the all three venues, is the in the centre of the all the talking. He is none other than Mr. Godfrey Dabrera, who is in charge of all International venues.
As, he has continually been trying to be like Jayananda Warnaweera, he prepared wickets against Australia and Sri Lanka won the series empathically. He tried the same tactic against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe but it backfired.
Against India he did the same mistake, as he prepared wickets more suited to India, than the home side.
Godfrey, A person who was a venue manager at R. Premadasa stadium some time ago, has been given the charge of all International venues. He was the One time personal assistant and stooge, batsman of Thilanga Sumathipala.
He has been handsomely rewarded by Thilanga for his hard work in fixing votes for him during the board election.
As a result, now he has been granted all the facilities at SLC. he Uses SLC hotels and vehicles during each series for his family. He also runs a sports shop and supplies cricket equipment to Sri Lanka Cricket. Recently he supplied ground equipment to SLC.
He is also the president of Chilaw Marians cricket club, and there is a belief in Sri Lanka cricket, that without playing for either the Chilaw Marians or CCC, it’s very difficult to represent Sri Lanka team. Interestingly, Shami Silva, the treasurer of SLC, is the president of the CCC.
