Thilanga Sumathipala, the president of SLC, acts like an one man army. He likes to be everywhere : in team meetings, team gathering, net sessions, during each and every match, and no press conference of SLC have had ever been concluded without his presence!
Today was another such day. Sri Lanka selectors just announced the 15 men squad for the ODI series against India, just few hours ago. But, as always, it was an occasion for sumathipala to show his presence felt.
So, in a squad announcing routine press conference, there were around 100 people’s from SLC. there were arrangements for the Lunch for 100 persons, plus all District and Provincial coaches had to come for it since it was mandatory. Also all SLC Managers were also there, Which means no coaching going on in any Districts and Provinces today.

Though, Sanath Jayasuriya was also there, but as a mere spectator. This time around, though, Sanath himself was not happy, as he told some of his colleagues that he is disturbed by the President attending the press conference!
the conference had been organised in a temporary hall at SSC, which cost SLC 70 million. It was for no use, but now he is justifying by using it.
The cost of lunch approx Rs 1500/ per person. Now, it is becoming a norm, that Thilanga is spending money lavishly and that the marque is now a permanent one used by SLC without any payment to SSC.
