Now, if there is any truth on this, this could a disaster! Just a day before the second ODI against India at Pallekele, there are rumors in Sri Lanka that SLC president Thilanga Sumathipala have already predicted the result of the series: that India will win it 3-2.
More surprisingly, Even Former Sri Lanka captain Legendary Arjuna Ranatunga also confirmed the news, and said on a national platform about the Sumathipala prediction!
Though, there are no proof of these rumors yet, it has been spreading all over Sri Lanka like a wave.
There are some serious significance, if there is any truth about the ongoing rumors. Team India, currently one of the top team in the world, has been on a roll in the ongoing tour. They comprehensively whitewashed Sri Lanka 3-0 in test series, and did no harm to their reputation in the first ODI either, by routing the island empathically.
More than this, if Sri Lanka manage to win the two matches, as rumors are, than they can directly qualify for the 2019 world cup, As the island need at least two wins, to outshine west Indies in the ODI ranking.
Sumathipala family business is batting, this is an open fact. and it can be a reason for these rumors. But, if there is any truth, it will be a black chapter in the history of Sri Lanka cricket!
