Even though the official statement from the SLC over Kapugedera absence from the forth ODI is ‘back injury’ the circumstances that occurred between the first and third match, indicates some serious concerns.
Before the second ODI at Pallekele, one selectors and a very prominent former allrounder were seen with 2 Indian businessmen in Oruthota Challay, Digana. They were, also joined by few senior members of the present Sri Lanka national team.
They all were also seen at a leading restaurant in Colombo patronised by SL past and present players. This restaurant is visited by that former allrounder, who played for SL team in recent times.
Sources revealed that the foremost reason of Kapugedera sudden removal is that he didn’t carry the instructions, were given by that selector.
Sri Lanka management had decided before the third match, that they would choose to bat after winning the toss.
But, Kapugedera stunned one and all by choosing to bat first, and eventually the team lost the match embracingly by six wickets and conceded the series 3-0, even as two matches are yet to be played.
Now, Sri Lanka cricket has announced that they will do inquiry to investigate Kapugedera decision to bat first, and not carrying the instructions of team management.
Though, it seems another stupid decision of SLC. if Kapugedera intentionally did this, he must be seen as National Hero and must be honoured, instead of being insulted and inquired!
