Sri Lanka shorter formats captain Upul Tharanga has declared himself unavailable for the Pakistan Tests, saying he wants to concentrate on white ball for the next few months Cricket Age has reliably learnt.
This probably means he won’t available for the selection for test series against India as well, in the end of the year.
Tharanga had played test series against India as he opened the innings, but couldn’t make impact.
Cricket Age understand that he has decided to take break from test cricket, in order to arrest the slide of his team ODI form, as he is the captain of shorter formats. First time In the history of Sri Lanka cricket, they were whitewashed against India 5-0 in the ODI series, that concluded yesterday.
Sri Lanka is scheduled to play two match test serie, followed by 5 ODI’s and three t20 against Pakistan in UAE in October.
