Sri Lanka Cricket Board have taken many awful decisions throughout the two month long home series of all three formats against India.
On Sunday, when India won the ODI series 5-0, there was no top brass SLC administrator present even though the Secretary Mohan de Silva was present and left the stadium prior to handover the trophy to the winning team!
India is the biggest and most powerful cricket playing nation, even then neither the SLC President Thilanga Sumathipala nor 2 Vice President’s were present there.
Reportedly, Sumathipala flew abroad just prior to the last match of the series, and SLC CEO Ashley De’silva had switched off his phone just before the post presentation to avoid the presentation.
Instead, team India received the trophy with SLC employees. Aruna de Silva, in charge of Tour Operations Manager and Chandima Mapatuna, Manager International cricket department presented the winning trophy to team India.
Even though, SLC in crisis right now, as pressure has been mounting from all the corners, but it was indeed a shameful act and Team India and Indian Board are very disappointed by SLC’s treatment. Further it was discussed by the fans present that the trophy was awarded by two, who have played at the lowest level and SLC is now finding it difficult to even request a Past National Cricketer to the Podium.
It was also discussed that the Secretay, Treasurer, CEO and Chief Operating Officer were present but did not come forward and switched off mobiles, since they were wine and partying with so called lady secretaries, who were seen smoking like a chimney. It seems that the discipline at SLC has also eroded to the lowest level.
