Former Test player and President of Interim Committee Sidath Wettimuny has said that Sri Lanka Cricket could be rebuilt only if the Sri Lanka Cricket Board is dissolved and reopened from the beginning with the initiative of an internationally recognized person.
He further said that former player Roshan Mahanama is most suitable for this responsibility, as he is a respected person in world Cricket.
Mahanama, a world Cup winning member, is also a Globaly recognized person, as he has served as ICC match referee. Wettimuny feels Mahanama is the best person to guide Sri Lanka cricket in this difficult time.
“Look at the current SLC administration. the trainers are coming. Managers are coming. Coaches being changed frequently. The biggest problem in such an environment is that it affects the players. Because this is like a company, when a company becomes more discriminated against managers, it affects other working people. It’s affecting the players now” Wettimuny said, addressing the real issue with current SLC leadership.
“As he has the experience as a ICC match referee, Mahanama is the best person to handle this kind of crisis, Sri Lanka cricket going through Right niw” he concluded.
