There is no inquiry going on against Sri Lanka middle order batsman Chamara Kapugedera over ‘batting first decision’ in the third ODI match, Cricket Age has reliably learnt. further, he is very much in the scheme of things in the future for shorter formats, source revealed.
The story back goes to third ODI against India at Pallekele on 27 August, that Sri Lanka lost by Six wickets.
Reportedly, Sri Lanka team management had decided before the match, they would choose to bat after winning the toss.
But, Kapugedera stunned one and all by choosing to bat first after winning the toss, and eventually the team lost the match embracingly by Six wickets, and surrendered the series 3-0.
After that, there were rumors in media, that SLC to set up an inquiry over Kapugedera decision to bat first.
Now, Cricket Age can confirm there is no inquiry against him.
Though, the Team Management had a discussion, but the matter has very much closed, as team Manager has submitted a report to the Chief Executive. Now, no formal inquiry at all, and no further action is required, as it’s a judgement call.
Sources further confirmed that Kapugedera is very much an integral part of team setup for shorter formats, And had he not suffered back problem, he would be playing the solitary t20 against India, today.
