In a major setback to SLC efforts to bring legendary cricketers on board, Mahela Jayawardene, Brandon Kuruppu and Roshan Mahanama thoroughly denied any possible association with Thilanga Sumathipala led administration.
When contacted, Brandon Kuruppu, a former wicketkeeper of Sri Lanka, shown no willingness to take the proposed selector job from the SLC, even though he admitted to get an offer.
Mahela, meanwhile, has been contracted with IPL team Mumbai Indians for three years.
“It would be conflict of interest, if I will look for any other coaching job” he said.
In Mahela case though, a senior SLC official also clarified that no one from the board has approached him for anything.
Roshan Mahanama, on the other hand, confirmed of SLC approaching him, but he too dismissed the possibility to come up with SLC.
Earlier there were reports that SLC is trying to bring Mahela Jayawardene, Brandon Kuruppu and Roshan Mahanama on the board, in order to arrest the slide of the National team, in all formats, and more importantly to turn around it’s fast deteriorating reputation.
