Cricket Age has learnt that presence of Crysantha Kapuwatha
At the last Management Committee Meeting, held prior to the EXCO meeting, caused bitterness amongst SLC administrators.
According the constitution of SLC, The Management Committee Meeting can be attended by the Office Bearers only. however though K. Mathivanan had objected that it is not ehical to do so, since it is meant for the Office Bearers only.
There are whispers that Thilanga Sumathipala is planning to bring Kapuwatha as SLC new vice president of international cricket. Earlier, The likes of Aravinda De Silva and Jayantha Dharmdasa has been approached for the same post, but both are still considering the offer.
Kapuwatha’s back ground is that he is close to a former Minister Johnston, who is very close to former Sri Lanka president Mahinda Rajapaksha.
More notably, Last year Kapuwatha was put in charge of the Cricket Aid project to raise funds in the UK. But it fell apart due to the COPE taking action that this was a bogus Cricket Aid project and not keeping to the Sri Lanka Cricket constitution and the Central Bank directive to operate overseas and collect funds.
