Team India’s less favored batsman Ajinkya Rahane exclusion from t20 squad against Australia is the hot topic point in Indian cricket circle these days. A player, Who has constantly been performing at any given opportunity, finding himself out of favour again and again.
A shy and normal guy, he doesn’t speak to much, doesn’t provide headlines for media, and doesn’t have a flashy life style.
Instead, he focus on cricket! He let’s his bat speak whenever he comes to bat. But, irrespective of performances, selcotors are dropping him too often.
So, what is the matter? Is anyone plotting against him? Is anyone playing with his career?
Against Australia, he took regular opener Shikhar Dhawan’s place in the ODI side, and made the most of his opportunity with scores of 5, 55, 70, 53, 61. He was the second highest run scorer for India in the series after Rohit Sharma.
Before that, the stylish right-hander was adjudged Man of the Series on the West Indies tour as well.
Even then, selectors didn’t think twice before dropping him for the upcoming T20 series against Australia.
Commenting on his exclusion from India’s T20 squad, he humbly said that he respected the selectors’ decision.
“Yes, so much cricket we play, the team management, selectors take a decision and we respect it. Speaking about the competition, it is necessary and it helps you to give your best performance. Whoever gets a chance does well for the team. I have always enjoyed the competition,” Rahane told after found himself in the wilderness again.
Obviously, he is too humble to show any kind of anger, as Ravindra Jadeja shown after being dropped.
But, question remains unanswered that why Rahane finds no supports from team management?
Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar, a supporter of Rahane, on Wednesday lashed out at the BCCI selectors for not including batsman Ajinkya Rahane in the Twenty20 squad against Australia starting October 7.
He was furious at Rahane’s exclusion who scored four consecutive fifties in the recently concluded ODI series against Aussies. He also raised questions on KL Rahul’s inclusion in the T20I squad and said that the selectors need to give a valid reason for the same.
“The man who has scored for consecutive fifties, why is he not included in the team?,” Gavaskar told NDTV. “KL Rahul is a fine player, but he didn’t play a single game in the five-one day matches against Australia, why is he in the team and Rahane who scored four half-centuries is not there,” he added.
The question Gavaskar asked are valid! selectors need to clarify on those, to prove that Indian cricket is not heading towards biased selection!
