Legendary Sanath Jayasuriya is reportedly in Dubai with his Lawyer to give his statement before the Anti Corruption Unit (ACU) of ICC.
He will have to give his statement before the unit over the match fixing allegations made by Former fast bowler Pramodaya Wickramasinghe few days ago, Cricket Age has learnt.
Pramodya Wickramasinghe, the 1996 world cup winner fast bowler, had made some serious allegations on Sri Lanka team, during the ODI series against Zimbabwe. He particularly targeted than captain Angelo Mathews, by stating that he deliberately and suspiously changed his batting order in a particular match and also didn’t allow Lasith Malinga to bowl in a do or die situation.
In response, 40 Sri Lanka players, including Dinesh Chandimal and Upul Tharanga, signed a petition and requested SLC to do an immediate inquiry over Pramodya allegations.
After that, ACU, Unit of ICC, came to the Sri Lanka and investigated. ACU Officers Alex Marshal, Collin Tennant and Martin Vertgen had interviewed Jayasuriya during their visit as well.
Cricket Age has learnt that during their visit in Sri Lanka, the ACU members also interviewed Angelo Mathews, Lasith Malinga, and met with SLC president Thilanga Sumathipala, CEO Ashley De Silva and Mohan De Silva together.
Sanath Jayasuriya was the chairman of selectors during that series against Zimbabwe, while Mathews was captaining the side. SLC in a statement during ACU members visit, promised full support to the inquiry.
