Allrounder Asela Gunaratne and Angelo Mathews is unavailable for the selection due to injuries, while fast bowler Lasith Malinga and Opener Danushka Gunathilika are set to return for three T20 match series against Pakistan, Cricket Age has learnt.
Gunaratne is still recovering from the thumb injury, he sustained during the first test at Galle against India. Mathews, on the other hand though has fully recovered from calf injury, but management want him to regain full match fitness before the all important India series.
Meanwhile, Lasith Malinga is set to return for the shortest format, according to sources. He had been dropped from the ODI squad, largely because of poor bowling performance against India. In t20 though, selectors still remain one of the important player.
Danushka Gunathilika will also make to the team, after having missed ODI squad due to suspension of six matches.
As Cricket Age has confirmed yesterday, Opener Kusal Perera will also be considered for selection, depending on he passes the fitness test of SLC on this weekend. According to sources, he has fully recovered from his hamstring injury he picked during champions trophy, but will have to prove match fitness in order to get selected.
Sri Lanka will play two t20 matches at Abu Dhabi on 26th and 27th October respectively, while the third match will be played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on 29th October.
