Sri Lanka have included middle order batsman Chamara Kapugedera in place of Kusal Mendis in their playing XI for the third ODI today, while Suranga Lakmal made way for young fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera.
Kusal Mendis, though the best Sri Lanka young batsman currently, has been hopelessly out of form. He hasn’t scored a forty plus score in his last ten ODI innings. More than that, his pattern of getting out in recent times shows he is low in confidence.
Kapugedera had played first three matches against India recently before sustaining stiff backness.
Sri Lanka, trailing the series by 2-0, has lost consecutive 9 ODIs, their worst loosing streak since 1975.
Poor batting has the main cause of Sri Lanka continues flop show in ODI cricket, as team hasn’t crossed 250 mark in last seven matches. In the second match on Sunday, Sri Lanka bowlers restricted Pakistan to below par score of 219, but batsman failed miserably once again.
