Dashing left-handed opener Mahela Udawatte has made a remarkable comeback to the Sri Lanka team in the first T20I against Pakistan at Abu Dhabi, today.
Udawatte, 31, last played for Sri Lanka in 2009, in a t20 match against New Zealand.
Considered one of the brightest Prospect of Sri Lanka cricket in his early career, he somewhat missed the opportunity to make it big.
A powerful and aggressive opener, particularly punishing against quick bowlers, he could have been a perfect replacement of Legendary Sanath Jayasuriya. Rated highly in Sri Lanka cricket circuit, including Mahela Jayawardene, he earned national call-up at the rather young age of 22. He played 9 ODIs and 5 T20s for Sri Lanka.
