The rivalry between Mitchell Johnson and Kevin Pietersen is an open thing, and it seems the two still do not get along as the former Australia pacer’s knack of taking a dig through his tweets did not go down well with the former England batsman. As a result, Johnson ended up getting blocked by Pietersen on Twitter.
It all began when Johnson apparently took a dig at England’s pace quartet- James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Jake Ball and Chris Woakes for their performance in the first innings of the just-concluded first Ashes Test at the Gabba.
Johnson took a dig at Michael Vaughan and Pietersen, who are part of the commentary panel for the ongoing Ashes.
“Hey @KP24 @MichaelVaughan yesterday were carrying on about the pommy fast bowlers being able to bowl in the 140’s. Ever since they’ve taken the second new ball they’ve been bowling medium pace. They are allowed to bend their backs, and there’s 4 of them” he tweeted.
To this, Pietersen replied,
“Mitchell, is this you or your management tweeting? If it’s you, you not helping yourself! If it’s your management, ask them to stop or sack them!”
The heated exchange of tweets soon came to an unexpected end with Pietersen blocking Johnson, who found it a bit funny.
Australia thrashed England by 10 wickets in Brisbane to go one nil up in the five-Test series.
