Sri Lanka cricket board (SLC) doesn’t know how to respect country’s greatest players, and it has been well documented. On numerous occasions, SLC turned notorious in handling Country’s prides, be it Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene or Muttiah Muralitharan.
Mahela has been appointed one of the members of the Committee by Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara, that will give it’s recommendations to the minister. Mahela’s closest friend Kumar Sangakkara and Aravinda De Silva are also part of the Committee.
Yesterday, Dayasiri called for a meeting with all the three legends. However, Only Aravinda was in Sri Lanka. Mahela and Sangakkara were in Bangladesh, Coaching and playing for the franchise of BPL.
However, Mahela showed how serious he is to revamp Sri Lanka Cricket, as he flown back to Sri Lanka from the Bangladesh only for the meeting.
However, when Mahela started his presentation to all the club members yesterday, Thilanga Sumathipala, the SLC president and Shammi Silva, the treauserer of the Board, left the proceedings midway.
According to sources, Even Dayasiri was furious with the unaccountablity of Sumathipala and Shammi Silva.
It shows once again, how much SLC is serious about the revamping of country’s Cricket.
