First ODI at Dharamsala, on Sunday, turned a disasterous one for team India. Such was the dominance of the Lankan seamers that India scored 11 for 3 in the powerplay overs, the lowest 10-over score in an ODI in the last five years, and second-lowest overall and it would be a timely reminder for the hosts who would be playing in seaming pitches when they tour South Africa next month.
Eight of the Indian batsmen could not cross the double digit with four of them recording a duck. Only MS Dhoni (65), Hardik Pandya (10) and Kuldeep Yadav (19) registered a double digit score.
After seeing another epic failure of batsmen on a bowlers friendly pitch, former Indian players blasted their own players, at the same time praised Sri Lanka bowlers as well.
“Taking no credit away from the #SL seamers they have been Fantastic all morning, discipline and consistency being hallmarks 👌🏻👏🏼 #INDvSL” wrote S Badrinath.
“When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Was amazing from @msdhoni . But with just 112, doesn’t look like this one is going to be a contest. #INDvsSL” wrote Mohammad Kaif.
“धर्मशाला में खोली fast bowling की पाठशाला….Test cricket with the white ball. #INDvSL” wrote Akash Chopra.
“SL seamers forcing Indian batsmen to play virtually every delivery is also one reason why India is in dire straits. Well done SL! 👏👏👏
#IndvSL” wrote Sanjay Manjrekar.
“This might take you by surprise, but the batsman best equipped to handle these conditions in this batting group is Mahendra Singh Dhoni. #dharamsala
#IndvSL” Manjrekar trolled Indian batsmen in another tweet.
