The fight for the power within the board further intensified as Priyantha Algama, the SLC ExCo member has resigned from the immediate effect, Cricket Age learns.
According to sources, Algama has been a close associate of Former Vice President Jayantha Dharmadasa and was not happy with the latest happenings of the board.
Dharmadasa, a veteran of Sri Lanka Cricket, has not attended any ExCo meeting since June 2017, and rumors were that he resigned from his post, even though SLC never made it officially.
However, On December 12, SLC, first time, Issued a media release about the resignation of Dharmadasa.
In the release, SLC highlighted that Dharmadasa has resigned from his post, and K. Mathivanan to replace him as the New VP international Cricket.
Cricket Age understands that Algama took the decision to parted ways with SLC after that particular media release.
When inquired, Algama stated that as SLC made Dharmadasa resignation publically, there was no logic to stay with the board. At the same time, he also made it clear that he would return to SLC only if Dharmadasa also returns.
