Suresh Raina, who last wore an Indian cap during a home T20 series against England in February this year, announced on Friday his successful completion of the Yo-Yo test at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.
One of the reasons cited by the selectors behind the Uttar Pradesh batsman’s omission from the Indian limited-overs side was that he, along with another out-of-favour Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, failed to clear the Yo-Yo test.
The Yo-Yo test is multi-stage variation of the beep test which is used to determine a player’s fitness. The credit for developing the test goes to Jens Bangsbo, a football physiologist from Denmark.
