Lasith Malinga, one of the most iconic player in Sri Lanka cricket history, is not ready to give up as yet, even Selectors have been ignoring him for the national duty since September this year.
Malinga last played for Sri Lanka in one off T20I against India three months back. He couldn’t find a place in the team for ODI series against Pakistan and was overlooked for India shorter formats series as well.
However, unmoved by the snub, he has been working even harder to get his place back. He is playing first class cricket, for NCC in ongoing domestic season and was seen during Sri Lanka’s first training session with their new head coach Chandika Hathurusingha at RPICS Colombo, even as he was not part of the Preliminary squad for Bangladesh tri- series.
The Coach himself louded Yorker King for his commitment.
“He showed up today because there were no matches for NCC. he showed a lot of enthusiasm and I am happy with that. That is a good sign and sends a good message to other players as well” said Hathurusingha.
