In most probability, Thilanga Sumathipala era as the President of Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) will come to an end on May 26, Cricket Age learns. SLC Annual General Meeting date has been fixed for 26th May 2018, and according to reliable sources, Sumathipala will be replaced by then.
It has reliably learnt that the Honorable President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena has decided not to allow Sumathipala for another term. According to Sri Lanka Sports Law, President has the right to stop Anyone from contesting the SLC elections.
During Sumathipala current tenure, Sri Lanka Cricket has been embarrassingly done and dusted. In 2017 alone, Sri Lanka lost 40 matches across all formats in 57 games, winning only 14, under 7 different captains.

It has also reliably learnt that Two UNP leadars are front runners to take over as the President of SLC after the AGM on 26th May.
In addition, SLC extraordinary general meeting (EGM), scheduled for 7 January, is also in jeopardy, as three clubs – Peterson SC, Kolupitiya SC and Nomadas SC have not received the notification from SLC till now. In this scenario, they have the right to challenge the EGM and without their participation it would and invalid exercise.
