Thilanga Sumathipala, the President of Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) refused to take two years extension, during the EGM held on Sunday, Cricket Age learns.
According to sources, during the EGM, the members of western province requested Sumathipala for another extended period of 2 years. However, Sumathipala refused it by citing personal reasons.
Although Sports Regulations allows a 4 year term now, SLC Constitution only allows 2 years. According to sources, this was not adopted as Sumathipala was not in favor to get extension.
It has also learnt that regarding the domestic cricket Tournament rules, there was one asstained vote from Michael Zoysa over one particular rule.
The next election of the SLC is scheduled for May 26.
