Recently a tussle between Sampath Hettiarachchi, The incharge Of Brain Centre at SLC, and Anura Weerasinghe took an ugly turn as it proved once again that the fight for the power within the SLC is getting intensified by each passing day.
According to sources, SLC is in the process to install Cameras at all the grounds, to get match recording for the data analysis and as the incharge of brain centre Sampath Hettiarachchi is overseeing this. Hettiarachchi is known as a relative of SLC President Thilanga Sumathipala. He was living abroad few years back, then returned to Sri Lanka and took Brain Centre under his wings with a lump sum salary.
Last week, Sampath went to Hambantota Stadium to oversee the progress of Camera’s project. However, according to sources, Anura didn’t allow him to enter into the ground. After waiting for almost two hours outside the ground, Sampath called SLC CEO Ashley De Silva. But, even Ashley couldn’t recommendation couldn’t Convince Anura. Few hours later, Sampath called SLC President Thilanga Sumathipala to intervene in the matter.
At last, after the few hours tussle, Sampath was able to enter into the ground.
Now in the latest update, An angry Sumathipala has ordered Ashley De Silva to strip Anura from the post of incharge of western province venues. According to sources, Now Priyantha Soyasa will replace him. Al though, Soyasa was actively involved in the manipulating of Pandadura-Kalutara fixing scandal that rocked Sri Lanka domestic cricket last year.
