Under the regime of Thilanga Sumathipala, Sri Lanka Cricket Board has gone weird in almost everything. However, the most notorious things Board does is to hire employees just for the fun, without any need and purpose.
Very few knows that SLC has a channel head, even though there is no channel! In July 2017 itself, SLC hired a person named Kamal Deshpriya as the channel head. His monthly salary is approximately 3 Lakhs excluding all other perks. Obviously, as there is no channel of SLC, he has turned a ‘White Elephant’ for the board.
Now, in a hilarious turn of events, SLC has hired a Assistant for him also and he is paid a monthly salary of Rs.80,000/-!
Insiders says that since last seven months, Kamal Deshpriya has no work to do. In this scenario, hiring a assistant for him also seems a money wasting exercise.
In addition to this, SLC has also hired a Video Editor recently, on a monthly salary of Rs.80,000/- for the media branch. Now, SLC media unit has : Two media manager, One Lady media coordinator also paid Rs. 75,000/-and now this Video Editor.
Further the account at SLC is also paid Rs.80,000/- and the personal photographer the same amount. the interesting part is that the CEO of Lakbima Sujeewa Godaliyadha is an EXCO member of Sumathipala’s team and Lakbima is enjoying things of SLC on a platter.
During last few media briefings, One prominent media house of Sri Lanka and BBC live telecasted it, but the SLC own media unit was unable to do it!
