Martin Guptill once again showed his hitting prowess in the shortest format of the game as he slammed the fastest ton for New Zealand in the fifth match of the Trans-Tasman T20I tri-series against Australia in Auckland on Friday.
Guptill – who was overlooked in the IPL 2018 Auction – showed what the franchisees are missing as he slammed a 49-ball ton against the mighty Aussies. By doing so, Guptill broke Kiwi legend Brendon McCullum record of fastest T20I ton by a New Zealander.
The eight teams in the IPL might be left thinking what could have been had they opted to buy one of the top names in world cricket. Also, with a base prize of just Rs 75 lakh, the franchisees missed a trick as this innings from the Kiwi star shows.
