Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan is an ardent follower of cricket which is evident from his tweets. Irrespective of whether India wins or loses, the 75-year-old has always supported the Indian team. After Men in Blue’s recent triumph against South Africa in 1st T20I, Bachchan senior once again took to Twitter to laud Virat Kohli’s men. However, his tweet also caused a stir on social media, as he slammed ‘biased commentary.’
“T 2619 – INDIA wins first T20 against SoAf .. brilliant play .. loved the aggression .. and loved the bias commentating .. keep doing that please ..coz’ every time you do that we WIN handsomely !”he tweeted.
Not to forget, Bachchan had slammed Indian commentary in one of his tweets in 2016, which was said to be an indirect dig at renowned Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle.
“T 2184 – With all due respects, it would be really worthy of an Indian commentator to speak more about our players than others all the time,” Bachchan tweeted on March 24, 2016.
Immediately after that, Bhogle was sacked from the commentary team by the BCCI. After his acrimonious exit in 2016, Bhogle was not seen on air during the better part of 2016 and earlier part of 2017. He finally made a comeback in the commentary team during India’s tour of the West Indies in 2017.
But yet another tweet on ‘biased commentary’ by Bachchan did not go down well with fans who reckoned he was once again targeting Bhogle.
Here are some of the reactions:
“If your indication is towards @bhogleharsha then you need to work on your knowledge of the game” wrote Burhan.
“Uncle Since ur a senior, u think u always have right to say anything about anyone. As usual You continue to spit venom about @bhogleharsha but he will remain one of the bestest commentator after Tony Greig” wrote Younous Mohammad.
“Commentary have to be neutral. If you are pointing this to @bhogleharsha you are making a mistake. He is a tremendous commenter with adequate knowledge about the cricket. And most importantly he speaks brutal truth. #INDvsSA” wrote Nitish.
