Few weeks ago, there were chaotic scenes at Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC), as The Income Tax Officials suddenly invaded to its Maitland place headquarter. As no one knew what’s going on, employees and board officials were scared alike, Cricket Age reliably learns.
Later, it revealed that Income tax officials were come to questioned SLC vice president K. Mathivanan regarding some financial outstanding over his former company.
“They questioned him over unsettled payment of his former East West Company, that involves in Palm Oil import” a source, who used to be very close of Mathivanan, told Cricket Age.
When Cricket Age inquired with Mathivanan about the incident multiple times, he didn’t reply.
According to sources, K. Mathivanan sold this company to Jayantha Dharmadasa, the former president of SLC. However, some payments, from Mathivanan days, are unsettled and that’s why Income tax officials invaded SLC.
K. Mathivanan, Incharge of International cricket after a disastrous tenure as domestic cricket head, prefers to showcase himself as ‘Mr. Clean’ of Sri Lanka Cricket. However, his alleged involvement in notorious and controversial sagas like – Kalutara-Panadura fixing, Ragama-Saresens Controversy and ACU episode, tells another side of story of him!
Recently, he gave a safe path to his close associate Chandrika Rodrigo, while penalised two umpires without any fault, for the controversial Ragama-Saresans match. On the other hand, the investigation of Panadura-Kalutara match fixing saga is still ‘Mysteriously’ going on, and even after one year there is no ‘proper’ progress on the saga. It is noteworthy that Mathivanan was the incharge of domestic cricket at that time.
