SLC Sold Radio Commentary Rights to three Different Channels!
For the Nidahas Trophy, Sri Lanka Cricket board have sold the radio rights of all the matches to not one, but three different Radio Channels, Cricket Age reliably learns. The man behind this deal is Bandula Saman Wathuregama, who had been sacked by Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), due to various allegations.
According to sources, Over the years Wathuregama has cleverly established himself as a close associate of Thilanga Sumathipala, the president of SLC. Even though he is not an official employee of SLC, he runs the show.
Cricket Age learns that SLC has sold the Radio rights of Nidahas trophy commentary to three different channels – Rasa FM, Sitha and Siyatha. Ravin Wickramaratne, the controversial Assistant Secretary of SLC is also involved in this deal. According to sources, Wathuregama himself is amongst commentators and they will also use SLC equipments for the commentary as well. Yesterday, during the first match of the tournament, Comentaries were given in all three stations and the Commetators were also given by SLC to boost the image of the board.
Wathuregama has been notorious for various things in past. According to sources, sometimes ago, he tried to do human trafficking in New Zealand through SLBC commentary team. After that New Zealand Cricket Board blacklisted him and SLBC as well. He was also the main culprit of recently U-Tube fraud, in which U-Tube banned SLC channel after finding unapproved telecast of matches of Sri Lanka tour of India in December last year.
