The much awaited Annual General Meeting (AGM) Of Sri Lanka Cricket Board is fixed for May 19, Six Months After its two-year term ended in January this year, Cricket Age reliably learns.

According to sources, Thilanga Sumathipala strategically fixed the date on Yesterday, hours before the No Confidence in the parliament against the Country’s Prime Minister Ranil Wickramsinghe. The notice of the AGM has already been dispatched to its members, as according to constitution it must be served forty days before the AGM. Nominations will begin four weeks before the date of election and close a fortnight advance.

Cricket Age learns that it’s very unlikely for Sumathipala to contest for another term. His two years have been badly marred with charges of corruption, mismanagement and administrators like Vice president K Mathivanan and Assistant secretary Ravin Wickramaratne also made situation worse with their continues wrongdoings.

Furthermore, after getting embarrassing defeat in the No Confidence saga against Prime Minister Ranil Wickramsinghe on yesterday, Sumathipala has weakened significantly. Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara, who backed Sumathipala unconditionally in last two years, Will fight for his own political survival in upcoming days, and most probably will be replaced in the upcoming week itself.

There were talks at SLC that Sumathipala could nominate Vice president domestic cricket Mohan De Silva in the upcoming election. However, it has also learnt that K. Mathivanan, the most controversial and most notorious vice president of international cricket, has already opposed the idea, as he himself is day dreaming to contest for the presidential post.
