Local Government and Provincial Councils minister Faizer Mustapha, On Thursday, has been appointed as Sports Minister after Dayasiri Jayasekara resigned from his portfolio.
Dayasiri, along other Ministers, resigned from his portfolio on Wednesday.
Cabinet spokesperson also added that these were temporary appointments and there will be a major reshuffle in the cabinet following the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
Dayasiri, a SLFP Parliamentarian, was the main architect behind the No Confidence Saga against the country’s Prime Minister Ranil Wickramsinghe. Right from the Rajapakshe party’s grand victory in the local elections in February, Dayasiri was trying to topple Wickramsinghe.
