Phoenix Industries Private Limited, the largest plastic manufacture in Sri Lanka, has claimed that Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has offered tender for stadium chairs to a foreign company who had quoted Rs. 20 million more than the amount quoted by Phoenix Industries.
In a letter addressed to former Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara with copies to President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe, SLC President Thilanga Sumathipala and Chairman of the COPE Committee where Phoenix had claimed that they had quoted the lowest bid for the tender yet was awarded to another bidder for a much higher bidder.
The letter signed by CEO Rohan Wijekoon, Phoenix claimed that they have supplied over 20,000 stadium chairs to several sporting venues such as Kettharama, SSC, Dambulla, CR &FC, Nawalapitiya stadium Pallekele, Royal Complex and etc.
The said tenders have been called to install new chairs at Dambulla Stadium which has now awarded for the Malaysian based company.
