After postponed the election , Sports Minister Faizer Mustapha has reappointed Thilanga Sumathipala and his Executive Committee as an Interim Committee to run Sri Lanka Cricket until elections are held, Cricket Age reliably learns.
Earlier on Friday, Minister Mustapha has postponed the SLC election, by calling it illegal, due to wrong procedure. The Sumathipala led SLC administration had called for the election on May 19.
Now, Before conducting election Sumathipala led Executive Committee will have to reform an Election Committee, then the election committee to decide on the election.
“An election committee needs to be appointed by the membership. currently Committee was appointed by ExCo with permission from Ministry, but new minister says to appoint at the AGM and after that have the elsections” a top official of Sports Ministry told Cricket Age on Friday.
