KL Rahul and Umesh Yadav could be rewarded for their impressive show in IPL with a place in India’s ODI squad for the tour of England.
Rahul, who just plays T20I and Test format, was dropped from the ODI squad after his poor show in series against Sri Lanka.
Yadav, who was surprisingly not included in the ODI squad for South Africa series, was kept out of the limited overs side owing to BCCI’s rest policy. He played his last ODI against Australia in 2017 in Bengaluru, which was the only game he played in the series.
Ambati Rayudu could also be rewarded for his show in IPL 2018. He is in contention to be named in the T20I squad for Ireland and England series. The current holder of Orange cap, he has amassed 423 runs in IPL so far from 10 innings at an average of 42.30, batting at a strike-rate of 151.61. The veteran batsman last played for India on the tour of Zimbabwe in 2016, where MS Dhoni led a second-string side.
[5/8, 13:03] Pushpendra Albe: While the IPL performers are set to be recalled in limited-overs format, Kuldeep Yadav is also in line to earn a Test recall, for the one off test against Afghanistan.
Since Virat Kohli will not be playing the Afghanistan Test, Ajinkya Rahane is all set to be named as captain.
