Ravin Wickramaratne’s, the notorious Assistant Secretary of Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC), has become the synonymous of Wrongdoings and Corruption, during the Thilanga Sumathipala two years regime. He has been declared main culprit of Panadura-Kalutara Match fixing scandal, yet reaping benefits big time at SLC.
In the latest episode of his wrongdoings, it has learned that he falsely put his friends as ‘Journalists’ in order to send them UAE for the Sri Lanka team’s tour in October 2017, where Thisara Perera led team played a historical T20 match in Lahore.
Eventually, Sri Lanka became the first test playing nation to play an international match in Lahore, after their seniors suffered a terrorist attack in 2009.
According to sources, as Lahore T20I was of significant importance of SLC, president Thilanga Sumathipala gave the media responsibility to Ravin, as he is also the Media Pillar of ExCo.
“What Ravin did and betrayed Mr. Sumathipala, was beyond thinking. He manipulated everything and falsely brought his own friends, showed them as journalists in order to send them to UAE Trip” a top SLC official told Cricket Age in term of animosity.
As Sumathipala took the bold move to send his T20 team to Lahore, SLC spends lavishly, in order to give Sri Lanka journalists a chance to cover the historical match. However, Ravin Wickramaratne manipulated the things, by Disbursed approved 21 Lakh Ruppes, to oblige his own people.
“SLC granted Over 21 Lakhs for sending journalist. However, Ravin Disbursed the amount as he wanted. In order to show them journalists, he even managed to get false letters” he revealed further.
This particular incident raises serious questions over Ravin Credibility as SLC official. Right now, SLC has been mulling over his appointment as the manager of the Sri Lanka Cricket team!
Question is : how can he be team manager, especially when he has been accused of such serious offense as an official?
