As Cricket Age published a week ago itself, Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) Interim Committee are likely to appoint Hashan Tillakaratne as the Coach of the U19 and U17 Team’s purely on the influence of board Vice President K. Mathivanan, it learns.
After SLC didn’t renew Roy Dias Contract, Former players like Prabhath Nisanka, Chaminda Vaas, Ruwan Kalpage, Jeevantha Kalatunga were interviewed by a committee, headed by Mathivanan.
However, On May 4, Cricket Age published how Mathivanan wanted to bring his favorite Hashan Tillakaratne as the Coach, even though he didn’t apply even, thus he sidelined everyone one by one.
The Tillakaratne Family considered to be very close to Mathivanan, and there is a common perception in Sri Lanka cricket circuit that he always push Tillakaratne’s within SLC. Apsari Tillakaratne, the wife of Hashan, has also been granted a high profile post for the betterment of women’s Cricket.
This is not the first time Mathivanan Unethically favoured his favorites. In the Panadura-Kalutara match fixing, he saved Ravin Wickramaratne and Co when he was the incharge of domestic cricket. Few Months ago, he punished two umpires and barred them from umpiring in domestic matches, only because they complained against the rude behavior of his favorite Chandrika Rodrigo during a domestic match between Ragama and Saresans.
