Legendary Pakistani fast bowler Wasim Akram has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board and his compatriots who became a part of the historic Test against Ireland at Malahide for not sporting the traditional green stripe on their sweaters on Saturday. Traditionally, Pakistan has been donning sweaters in Tests with the green stripe, especially when they play the longest format of the game in UK.
However, for some inexplicable reason, Pakistan’s cricketers didn’t wear sweaters with a green neckline when they locked horns against Ireland in the much-talked-about Test.
“Where is the green stripe gone from our sweater? Not cool ,” he lamblasted his team along with a TV footage grab which shows a Pakistani player in dead white.
After 141 years of wait, Ireland became the 11th nation in the world to play Test cricket on Saturday as a village ground played host to a Test match in front of a near-capacity crowd.
