Newly appointed Election Committee has issued a letter to Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) President Thilanga Sumathipala and asked him for the explanation on the objections on his nomination for the board election to be held on May 31st, Cricket Age reliably learns.
According to sources, Two other candidates Jayantha Dharmadasa and Nishantha Ranatunga have submitted objection against Sumathipala nomination on Tuesday in the basis of Incumbent President’s connection with betting and gambling business.
“A letter has been written by the Commision to the individuals concerned to explain them selves based on the objections placed to the election Commision board” a top official told Cricket Age.
According to sources, The election committee has instructed concerned person’s to submit the replies on the rejection till May 28.
However, the credibility of election committee has still not been established, as the five member committee have been appointed by Sumathipala Led SLC itself, on May 21st.
