Faizer Mustapha, the Sri Lanka Sports Minister, is all set to Convince The International Cricket Council (ICC) to put an interim Committee to Run the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC), Cricket Age reliably learns.
According to sources, Faizer, Along with His Personal Assistant Nihal, Competent Authority Kamal Padmasiri and SLC Incompetent CEO Ashley De Silva are going to Dubai to meet Top ICC Officials.
SLC is currently under Sports Minister observation after A court Case, Filed by Sri Lanka Cricket stalwarts Nishantha Ranatunga and Jayantha Dharmadasa, knocked Thilanga Sumathipala out before the proposed election on May 31st.
“There is a meeting with ICC and Honorable Faizer Mustapha and his team will Explain ICC that There is no harm in appointing an interim committee for a while” a top Official Of Sports Ministry Told Cricket Age.
During the high profile meeting, Faizer Will also convince ICC to grant Annual Money Sharing to SLC.
It has learnt that since the Departure of Sumathipala, Many prominent Former players, administrators and SLC stakeholders have suggested Mustapha to appoint the interim committee for a certain period, so The necessary Amendments can be done in the SLC Constitution.
“Look, The scenario is very simple. ICC Won’t recognize an interim committee without any proper reason. But, Sports Minister is going there to convince ICC that For the Constitution changes at SLC, there must be an interim committee” The official revealed further.
The leader of the campaign to bring back Sri Lanka Cricket on track, is none other than the Legendary Kumar Sangakkara. A firm believer of Constitutional Changes at SLC, he has been putting his heart and soul to make it happen. Few days ago, he even skipped his IPL commentatory stint, returned to Colombo and met Mustapha few times.
The Idea is simple : To bring Changes at SLC Constitution, so everyone in Sri Lanka gets an equal chance to fairly contest election.
