Written by Rohit Pawar

The Salary Increment Saga of Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) CEO Ashley De Silva And COO Jerome Jayarathne is getting bigger by each passing day. In the latest revelation, According to An ExCo Member, Both the top officials were obliged solely by then President Thilanga Sumathipala and treasurer Shammi Silva and no other ExCo member was involved in the act.

Cricket Age has the access of the related documents that proves that Ashley and Jerome received 30 and 15 percent salary increments on May 28.

However, the most shocking fact is that No Other ExCo member was aware of this happening.

“They didn’t make a submission of that salary increment matter neither there was any kind of discussion or evaluation on this. So it’s surprising how it came up” An ExCo Member Told Cricket Age in term of animonity.

“We are totally unaware of this and if needed, we are ready to submit an affidavit against this” he added further.

The ExCo Minute is signed by SLC secretary Roshan Biyanwila. When Cricket Age asked Ashley De Silva and Jerome Jayarathne for their version on the entire Saga, both refused to comment.

According to SLC Constitution, all staff increments needs to be discussed at house board and recommend to ExCo. However, Sumathipala Led administration didn’t follow any of the procedure. Not only this, as SLC normaly records all the ExCo meetings, the recording of last few meetings proves that the increment matter of Ashley and Jerome was never been discussed.

However, Sumathipala’s act to oblige Ashley and Jerome didn’t surprise many. After Cricket Age exposed the ‘Increment Saga’, many former SLC administrators were on the opinion that both Ashley and Jerome always supported Sumathipala Led administration unconditionally in their wrongdoings and financial irregularities. In addition all of them – Sumathipala, Shammi Silva, Ashley De Silva and Jerome Jayarathne – Played for the same Colombo Cricket Club (CCC).

Sumathipala led administration had to leave SLC in a embarrassing way, after The Court of Appeal Gave a stay order on AGM, was scheduled to be held on May 31st. The court verdict came on a case filed by Nishantha Ranatunga, referring many wrongdoings of Sumathipala Led administration.
