Even Though Thilanga Sumathipala led administration has departed from the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) after they failed to hold the election on time, Board CEO Ashley De Silva has been following former ‘Bosses’ Instructions as his first priority. In the latest episode of wrongdoings, SLC has Unethically put Sumathipala’s closest associate’s team into Women’s division One Tournament, Cricket Age reliably
Recently, SLC has announced the fixtures of Women’s Division One Tournament, starting from 2nd July.
Mysteriously, SLC has included Chilaw Marians Cricket Club in the tournament. However, it looks a biased decision to oblige Chilaw Marians President Godfrey Dabrera, who has been considered as one of the closest associate of Sumathipala. In reality, Chilaw Marians Club was participating in devision three tournament, till last year.
Godfrey is also SLC international ground’s incharge. He had came under the scanner during the Zimbabwe series last year, when after the series Lasith Malinga accused Curators to change the nature of the pitch without the knowledge of the team. ICC Anti Corruption Unit, Who has been investigating the match fixing charges for that series made by former Sri Lanka player Pramodya Wickramsinghe, had summoned Godfrey few months ago for the inquiry.
Now, With this unethical move of SLC, the outstation Club’s are feeling cheated.
“This particular move shows Ashley De Silva is still acting on behalf of Sumathipala. Ideally, Chilaw Marians, even if performing greatly in recent years, must have promoted into division Two. But, as Godfrey Holds a strong position at SLC and within Sumathipala Camp, Ashley De Silva kept silent, and the interested parties managed to put Chilaw Marians into division One Which is a clear case of Violation Of Tournament Rules” A Club President, whose team is participating in the division One, told Cricket Age in term of animonity.
As it has become a norm with Ashley De Silva that every complaint against Sumathipala Camp wrongdoings falls on deaf ears, the Outstation Clubs are mulling over go to the Court against this injustice.
