Sri Lanka’s representation at a two-day ICC special meeting that starts on July 01 in Ireland is making a mockery of the game. Sports ministry secretary and competent authority Of SLC H.T. Kamal Padmasiri will attend the event, although he has no understanding of the game, Cricket Age reliably learns.
“To be honest, he doesn’t know anything about Cricket. He is a typical subcontinent Government Official. However, it seems For his benefits and in order to remain in the good book of honorable Sports Minister, Mr. Ashley De Silva is taking him for joyrides for overseas tours” A top SLC Official told Cricket Age on term of animonity.
It is alleged that Padmasiri has developed a foreign trip mania after accompanying the minister to Dubai to meet with ICC officials previously. He is planning to stay in Ireland for as many as five days. The Sri Lanka Cricket will have to pay him a daily allowance of 350 dollars (around Rs. 56,000) for his stay.
This particular incident raises serious questions against SLC CEO Ashley De Silva. Is it ethical to send a person for an ICC Meeting, who has no knowledge about cricket, at a time when the Sri Lankan skipper, coach and the manager are accused of wrongdoings.
Meanwhile, Ashley de Silva is due to accompany Padmasiri to Ireland to attend the chief executives meeting of the ICC.
