Former India U-19 cricketer Mayank Dagar has set a new fitness bar as he has touched a mark of 19.3 in the yo-yo test, leapfrogging the scores of Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey. As per the reports earlier, Kohli had touched a mark of 19 in the yo-yo test while Pandey was ahead of the captain, touching the mark of 19.2. Dagar, though, has left both the Indian cricketers behind by touching the mark of 19.3.
The 21-year-old spinner, who is not in contention presently, was a part of Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. Although, he didn’t make it to the playing XI. Dagar, who represents Himachal Pradesh in domestic cricket, has played 11 first-class, 10 List A and 13 T20 games till now.
Yo-yo test has become a mandatory parameter to be selected in the Indian cricket team. Recently, the likes of Ambati Rayudu and Mohammed Shami were dropped from the national team after they failed to clear the test. Sanju Samson was also dropped from India A after he failed to achieve the desired level of fitness.
Last year, Yuvraj Singh was also dropped from the Indian team after failing the test while Suresh Raina couldn’t make his comeback to the national side after flunking the test. It was only after he cleared the yo-yo test that he was named in the Indian team earlier this year.
