For the first time on the ongoing tour of England, Indian batsmen showed some intent and propelled India to a score of beyond 300. Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane turned out to be the star for the team as the duo shared 159 runs for the fourth wicket, to rescue team from a situation from where England could have made a comeback. The intent shown by Kohli and Rahane impressed none other than Sachin Tendulkar, who heaped praises on the duo for their efforts.
Tendulkar also had a message for Rishabh Pant, who created history on his debut by scoring his first run in form of a six.
“What I liked in this innings was the intent shown by our batsmen and the front foot defense against the English pacers was solid. Wonderful partnership by @imVkohli and @ajinkyarahane88. @RishabPant777 should continue being positive and set the platform. #ENGvIND,” Tendulkar wrote on Twitter.
At present, the game seems to be in balance and the team which will be able to deliver the first punch will have an upper hand. For India, the key will be to reach never the score of 400. And, Rishabh will have to set a platform for that.
