After batsman Sabbir Rahman was warned by the Bangladesh’s cricket board for abusing and threatening a fan on social media, another middle-order batsman Mosaddek Hossain has been caught in a sensational controversy. He has been accused of domestic violence and torturing his wife for dowry.
Hossain’s wife Sharmin Samira Usha has accused him of torture and filed a case against him with the local authorities, as per reports in Bangladesh media. An investigation has been launched against the cricketer to verify the charges. This could come as a huge set back for Hossain, who is one of the regular members of the Bangladesh team and in contention for a place in the side for the upcoming Asia Cup 2018.
His wife’s lawyer Rezaul Karim Dulal alleged that the cricketer has for long been harassing his wife for dowry. “Mosaddek has been torturing her (Sharmin) for the dowry for a long time. He (Mosaddek) tortured her and drove her out of home for Tk (Bangladesh currency) 1 million in dowry on Aug 15,” she was quoted as saying by BDNews24.
